2025 Dec – Malton – New Year

Happy New Year all. The Yorkshire celebration to see the New Year in was at Malton and Norton RUFC from the 29th December to the 2nd January. The committee hosted the weekend rally. We had 36 vans in total attended, most for the whole four nights. This was made up of 20 Yorkshire including 4 first-timers, 2 Essex, 4 Lancs, 6 East Midlands and 4 Northern Counties.

The Monday evening was started off with a pie and pea supper, locally sourced steak pies & pork pies as well as cheese and onion pasties, so plenty of variety for everyone. The entertainment for the evening was a short quiz followed by singer Claire Coupland who soon got members up dancing to a mix of 60’s, 70’s and 80’s music.

On Tuesday the room was opened up for tea/coffee/biscuits from 11am and was well attended, some members played games whilst others caught up friends and chatted. The evening was a couple of quizzes, one of which was an interactive one done on the big screen by Neil Huggon and it was good fun followed by a game of bingo.

On the Wednesday some members went for a short walk around Town and as is usually the case, it finished in the Royal Oak pub. Again tea\coffee\biscuits were provided by the Committee during the day. On Wednesday evening a buffet was provided which members said was excellent in both quantity and quality. The theme of the weekend was 70’s\80’s dress and the outfits were all brilliant from all those who participated. The photo is of the final five selected by the Singer Rob Dillon who did a great job of entertaining the members – a great night was had by all. There was a raffle which was drawn during one of his intervals.

Thursday was a low key day and on the evening there was Bingo, quizzes as well as music quizzes . It had been a great 4 days rally with plenty of fun and celebrating.
