2026 Jul – Thornesians

The hosts were locals Jean and Sean Sowley. Another glorious day to start the weekend. Not like last year’s visit when it poured with rain Saturday and Sunday non-stop. On Friday afternoon we had 9 vans arrive at the rally. Six from Yorkshire, Two from Northern Counties and one from the Channel Islands (Guersey).  It was a lovely afternoon to settle in and have a look round and about the town of Thorne. In the evening we sat out on the field and had a few games together.

On Saturday there was an opportunity to try a walking treasure hunt round the town. Taking in some of the historic sites like Darley’s Brewery building, the moat and church, and the White Hart, a coaching inn built in 1737 for horse drawn coaches traveling along the Bawtry to Selby turnpike, as well as the ice cream parlour to name but a few.

On Saturday evening Dave Robinson brought out his ladder game for us to have a go with. We all tried our best but some were lots luckier than others. We had the results of the walking treasure hunt a, a quiz and some ball games.
