2024 November – Skipton

Our rally in Skipton turned out to be a belter. Malcolm and Carol stepped in as hosts last minute, due to the sudden illness of our rally officer, who we wish a speedy recovery. We had a great attendance of 40 vans, including 19 Yorkshire (4 first timers), 8 Lancashire (2 first timers), 7 N Counties, 4 E Midlands,(2 first timers) 1 NW Mids & N Wales (first timer), and 1 N Ireland (first timer). The weather stayed fine for us although the solid cloud remained, keeping the sun away. Friday nights entertainment was held in the auction arena, our Chairperson Paul welcomed everyone and then the fun began. Although no sales took place, lots of money changed hands to the Bingo winners! Carol handed out quiz sheets to test our grey cells and even did a third one as we all enjoyed them so much. On Saturday the weather stayed fine which enabled ralliers to wander down into town. They explored and browsed the shops and market. They enjoyed food and drink in one of the many hostelries in town. On Saturday night Paul again welcomed everyone and issued rally plaques to the first timers to a Yorkshire rally. The night saw more revelry in the auction ring with bingo and quizzes and catching up with friends. A great time was had by all. (scribe Jacqui)
