Thursday saw the arrival of 43 vans, with more arriving Friday. They came from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Northern Counties, East Midlands, Anglia, NW Midlands & North Wales. We also had a few first timers. Welcome to Whitby

On Friday many walked into Whitby via the coastal path. Stopping off to see the sculptures scattered around the town. Some even walked the Cinder Trail to Scarborough ( a long way!). Most found lunch in the cafes and restaurants in the town. One trying out the seaman’s mission which reportedly was good value for money.

The weather turned late in the day and saw most of use confined to our vans with torrential rain bashing the roof of the vans.

Saturday saw an improvement in the weather, and people escaped the confines of their vans to venture out again. Some getting as far as Grosmont ( Aidensfield in Heartbeat) and Sandsend, Robin Hoods Bay, Ravenscar and beyond.

The sun came through on Sunday to brighten us all up. Sadly many had already began to leave. Still, those of us that were left enjoyed another day out in the surrounding area. A steam train journey, or ghost tour of the town

Oh Yes! Happy Yorkshire Day 1st August.

Thanks to all the committee and helpers for putting the weekend on.
